S&S Outdoors is an Outdoor and Sporting Goods retailer in Mt. Carmel that opened in the old Bailey’s Gun Shop. Bailey’s Gun Shop was a trusted retailer for many years in Mt. Carmel. S&S Outdoors is keeping that tradition alive by continuing to offer excellent merchandise and stellar customer service. They opened their doors in October of 2023. They have done renovations inside to make the building work for them, and they have a new sign on the outside of the building to complete the project.

Gage Smitley opened the business with the help of his father Daniel. Gage works as a full-time HR Manager in Evansville. Daniel helps around the shop. Gage was described as an entrepreneur by his father. Gage’s love for the outdoors and his outstanding work ethic has led him into opening S&S Outdoors. Daniel, Gage’s father, was a gun shop owner for 6 years. He is also a seasoned outdoors man himself. Being able to help around his father’s shop and learn the ins and outs of running a business was a fundamental experience for Gage to then use to open his own shop.

S&S Outdoors specializes in Firearms and Ammunition. They are also certified dealers for hunting or work footwear. They carry brands such as Garwin, Gamehide, Irish Setter and Redwing. This business is certainly a hidden gem in our local community.
